You're right. I purposely avoided the fancy Nest thermostats when I did
an upgrade at home, and choose a simple, programmable Honeywell. Never mind
I paid $20 vs. $180. I don't need that crap to be internet enabled, and the
more I think about it, the more sure I am.

That's why I took a Plugwise Anna that can only be accessed via the
local network.

I would worry then about the device "phoning home." Sorry, but the
entire *genre* spooks me.
